Annual Parochial Church Meeting
Monday 05 April 2010 at 10:57 amSt Andrew's, Soham, Tuesday 12th April.
The Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) which sometimes used to be called the Annual Meeting. This is a chance for the Parochial Church Council (PCC) to present a report on the life and work of the parish over the past twelve months.
It is at this meeting that we elect the churchwardens for the next year and also the PCC. Every year three or four members of the PCC leave in order to allow new members to join. We feel that this keeps the Council fresh by allowing ‘new blood' to join. If you are interested in being on the PCC come along to the meeting or let the vicar know that you want to stand (You must be over 16 and on the church electoral roll). You can read more about the PCC here.
We also need to elect Deanery Synod reps this year - Jo may stand for re-election but Alison is definitely stepping down so please consider whether you might stand. Deanery synod has a reputation as being boring but can be a good opportunity to meet with members of other churches and hear their ideas and Tim (Rural Dean) has plans to make it more interesting with occasional trips.
If you want to stand as churchwarden you should be nominated on paper before the meeting - paper work can be downloaded here.
