Mothers' Union

Saturday 21 November 2009 at 12:20 pm

Thanks to everybody who donated goods for the Cambridge Women's Aid Refuge.  Dawn is taking a boot load of household goods and toiletries to the MU contact for the refuge.

Thanks too to the Vicar for his interesting talk on musical settings of the Magnificat (Mary's song of praise from Luke's Gospel, used in the Church of England as part of evening prayer.)

The next meeting is the Christmas party on Thursday 10th December at 22 Sand Street.  Please bring some festive food to share and a present costing £3 or less (which will be given to one of the other members, chosen at random).

Christingle

Tuesday 17 November 2009 at 07:43 am

Sunday 6th December, 4pm, St Andrew's

This year the St Andrew's Christingle Service is to be shared with the Methodist Church. (There will be no service at the Methodist Church this year - they will host next year's Christingle.)

ChristingleThis service for families helps us to think about Christ's light shining in the world. The children will receive a Christingle (see picture) to light during the service and take home with them. There will be a collection for the Children's Society and anybody who has one of the Children's Society collection boxes is asked to bring it to this service.

The builders are coming!!!

Sunday 15 November 2009 at 11:58 am

The builders are coming!! After many years of setbacks and problems we are finally able to go ahead with the scheme to replace the church hall facilities within the church itself. The work will begin on 4th January. We will be installing a toilet and kitchenette and creating an open space at the back of the church that can be used for meetings and other events. At the east end there will be a smaller meeting room suitable for committees, Junior Church and other small groups. The new facilities will enable us to make wider use of the church building and will be available for other community groups to use as well.
